Like a real cab: a pick-up charge, a rate per mile (or kilometre), and a rate per minute of waiting while the car's stopped or crawling. On the Standard tariff that's £2.50 to get in, £1.50 a mile and 25p a minute waiting, and after dark the late-night rate adds half as much again.

You can change every rate in Settings. Changes never alter trips you've already finished.

To measure how far you've driven. Location is only used while the meter is running, and your route stays on your devices. Parent Cab explains this the first time you start a trip, before iOS asks.

To check or change it later: Settings → Parent Cab → Location, and choose While Using the App.

That happens when Parent Cab can't use your location, so it can't measure distance. In Settings → Parent Cab → Location, choose While Using the App and turn on Precise Location.

No. Once the meter's running you can lock your phone. The fare, time and distance show on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and the meter keeps going. Nothing needs touching while you drive.

A nudge if the car seems to have stopped for a long time with the meter still going, so a forgotten meter doesn't charge for a night on the drive. It's off until you switch it on from a trip summary. It's the only notification Parent Cab sends.

Yes. Choose money or chores for the whole family, or for each child. Fares turn into chores from your price list, biggest job first (wash the car £8, empty the dishwasher £2, bins out £1, make a cuppa 50p), with one small job for any pennies left over. Edit the list in Settings.

Hugs are always accepted as a tip. They don't count towards the fare.

No. A receipt is an image you share to WhatsApp, Messages or anywhere else, so it arrives like any other photo.

Parent Cab couldn't look up the town name, usually because there was no signal when the trip started or ended. You can give the trip your own name from the Trips tab.

Open the Trips tab, tap a child's tab and choose how they paid: in money, in chores, in hugs, or written off.

Yes. If you're signed in to iCloud, passengers and trips sync between your iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud, automatically. On iPad the map and meter sit side by side.

No. There's nothing to sign up for. Your trips stay on your devices and in your own iCloud (your Google account on Android, when it arrives), where we can't see them. More in the privacy policy.

Settings → Your data. Export everything as a CSV or JSON file, or delete all data, which removes it from your devices and your iCloud. Export a copy first if you want to keep one.

No. Version 2.0 has no in-app purchases, no ads and no subscriptions.
